Do you spend the whole weekend trying to get your place perfectly clean, but the next day it looks like you never cleaned it?
We at Bright Side might have a solution! Some places in your house don’t need to be cleaned too often, so put your mops and sponges aside. You just need to come up with a cleaning schedule that will help you stay organized and keep your home sparkling clean.
- To avoid hard water stains remember to wipe dry your stainless steel sink.
- Bathroom tiles: use a window squeegee to prevent bathroom mold.
- Dishes: never leave dirty dishes overnight, and don’t let them soak for too long. Dirty water is a bacteria-friendly environment.
- Dining tables and kitchen counters should be cleaned with a damp cloth to remove any food remnants.
- Laundry: don’t wait until you can run a full load. Wash your clothes every day so as not to let bacteria multiply in your dirty stuff.
Once a week
- Bedsheets need to be washed separately from your clothes at a high temperature, sorted by fabric type.
- First, dry mop or vacuum the floor, and then clean with a slightly damp mop. Important! Clean the floor 3 times a week if you have small children or pets.
- Clean bathroom cabinets and wall storage shelves with disinfectant solution, and keep toothbrushes in closed containers.
- Furniture: use microfiber cloths to clean your furniture (they won’t leave any scratches).
- Remove grease stains from kitchen appliances using dishwashing liquid and warm water.
- When cleaning kitchen and bathroom faucets, use products that don’t contain chlorine or strong acids.
Once a month
- For microwaves, use baking soda. It’s the best product to use on enamel, and it fights odors too.
- Vacuum filter: when you empty the canister don’t forget to clean the filter as well.
- Blinds and air vents: before turning to soap and water, vacuum the grates using low suction power.
- Use static dusters or any other soft brushes to clean wall sconces and floor lamps.
Every 3-6 months
- Refrigerator: baking soda will get rid of smells and leave your fridge perfectly clean.
- Pillows, blankets, and mattresses: if you can’t clean them properly, at least leave them out in the sun for a few hours to get rid of dust mites.
- Get mold and mildew off your shower curtains: clean in your washing machine, then drip-dry.
- Kitchen stove hood filters: dip them in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Clean with dishwashing soap, and rinse thoroughly.
- Oven: before cleaning with detergents, preheat the oven for 20 minutes.
Once a year
- Carpets and upholstery: use special cleaners to remove dirt and stains. Important! Clean every 6 months if you have pets.
- Windows: never wash windows on a sunny day because cleaning solutions applied to hot glass dry too quickly, leaving more streaks. Important! If your windows face a busy street with much traffic, clean them every 6 months.
- Curtains: depending on the fabric type, wash curtains in your washing machine or use a steamer.
